  John Mayer's research and books: I believe that you are looking for James Strange. I do have one who was born in either 1784 or 1787 and died after 1870. He married a Sarah and his children are listed as Susan, 1816, James M. 1818, Sarah Allen Nee Strange, William S. 1820, and an unnamed daughter whose married name was Mills. This James Strange is identified as James Strange, Jr. [III] : Jesse Strange and he is listed as the sixth child and second son of James Strange, Sr. [II] who was born in 1748 and died circa 1805.
